Minimalist commercial building at Oakland, California
Many times, the practicality of building a straight wall rather than a curve is in the favor of the clients as it reduces the cost, time, and labor. Using the same materials, finishes, and colors with the simple shape of the façade makes the building monotonous. Even though monotonous is associated with boring, the outlook could be transformed just by organizing each floor to orient in different directions. This not only breaks the linearity but also invites light and air throughout the year (varies depending on different geographical locations and laying out the interior of the building too). Additionally, in terms of structure, it does not question the strength of the building and gives straightforward solutions to planning and setting the building on site.
